Apple’s iPhone lineup may now be better equipped to take on Samsung, OnePlus

For a while now, Apple had a ‘limited’ set of iPhone options for users. Every year if you took in account the new models, iPhone wasn’t really available across the affordable premium and premium range. An area where Samsung had the edge and OnePlus too had a presence. Not anymore though as with the launch of iPhone 12 series, Apple has an iPhone across the price range.
For starters, the iPhone SE, which is available at Rs 39,900 and is the most affordable iPhone one can buy. Backed by a powerful processor, it does have a dated design but makes its presence felt strongly. Meant to ‘convert’ those in the Android world, iPhone SE is also Apple’s attempt to get buyers into its ecosystem.
Next up is the iPhone XR — which had been a really popular phone till iPhone 11 arrived on the scene — that is just under Rs 50,000. Selling at Rs 47,900, the iPhone XR is an option for those who don’t want to spend above Rs 50,000 but want an iPhone.
The iPhone 11 starts at Rs 54,900 and has been the best-selling smartphone in the world. A dual camera set up, a fast processor and for those who don’t want to spend close to Rs 60,000.
And then of course there are the new iPhone 12 series devices. The iPhone 12 mini — the smallest iPhone — starts at Rs 69,900 and would appeal to those who want small screen phones. There are quite a few people who still look for powerful, expensive small screen phones but didn’t have one — before the iPhone 12 mini arrived on the scene.
If small screens aren’t for you then the iPhone 12 — starts at Rs 79,900 — and is not really affordable but amongst the new iPhones, it is relatively so. Backed by A14 Bionic processor, the iPhone 12 promises to be a super fast phone that has improved cameras as well.
Lastly, there are two iPhone for the upper crust — the ones that want the best of Apple has to offer. Starting at Rs 1,19,900, the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max don’t cut any corners and have the best of the best. Be it cameras or processor, these are phones for the absolute premium range.
With seven models in its line up, Apple has armed itself to take on OnePlus, Samsung and even the likes of Xiaomi and Realme that offer affordable premium device. Whether the strategy works out or not, the iPhone buyers are certainly spoilt for choice — as long as they are willing to splash the cash.
